Independent Practice
Algiers Neurobehavioral Resource, LLC
New Orleans, LA
Dr. Michael Chafetz is a Board Certified clinical neuropsychologist in independent practice in New Orleans. His research interests focused initially on the validity of Social Security disability examinations, where he has sought to understand how validity testing operates in low functioning claimants. This research led to an initiative to help the Social Security system produce more accurate assessments. His practice provides neuropsychological expertise in litigated matters, and he is frequently court-appointed. He is also engaged in FAA evaluations for pilots and air traffic control specialists, and he does licensing board evaluations. The current research came about after he was faced with a Daubert Motion-To-Exclude in a litigated matter in which he had only done a review of records and not an evaluation. This made him realize that the review of records had to be scientifically defensible and able to withstand this kind of challenge. This realization turned into a multi-authored international AACN best practices article on reviewing records, which is the topic today. By the way, the Motion failed and he was not excluded.
